Living Wisely Or Foolishly

James 3:13-17, & I Corinthians 3:19-23

We all make countless decisions during a life time and as a whole they determine whether we live wisely or foolishly. In making decisions is your decisions making based own your reasoning, feelings and desires or on other people’s advice? If so this process will result in foolishness because they’ve ignored the only true source of wisdom-
Almighty God.
Too many people forget that choices have consequences. The scriptures distinguish between two different kinds of wisdom (I Corinthians 3:19-23).
WORLDLY WISDOM SEES LIFE FROM MAN’S PERSPECTIVE;
EARTHLY– It’s limited to human reasoning and accomplishments. Although mankind has made tremendous advances in medicine, science and other areas, they still don’t know how to get along with each other.
NATURAL– Inside every person is a natural element which wants its own way-SELFISHNESS.
DEMONIC The root of worldly wisdom is found in SATAN himself.
WHAT IS THE WISE WAY God’s way is always the wise way the BEST WAY for he alone knows everything and has all power to handle the issues that are of great concern to Us. If we listen and wait for his council he will always lead us in the right path (Proverb 3:5-6). We will never go wrong if we believe and obey him.

Acquiring Wisdom

Proverbs 2:1-7, James 1:5-6

 What is Wisdom?

The bible makes a distinction between two very different kinds:

WORLDLY WISDOM is the use of knowledge and information. It’s based on human understanding and reasoning, but it is foolishness to the Lord (I Corinthians 3:19)

GODLY WIDSOM is the capacity to see things from the father’s perspective and respond according to the word of God. With it a person can overcome any challenge of life.

How Do We Acquire Godly Wisdom?

SEEKING IT, No one is born with Wisdom. So we have two options– seek it or face the consequences of living without it. It is a gift God gives to those who search for it like hidden treasure (Proverbs 2:4-7). Wisdom won’t come with half hearted attempts at Reading the Scriptures, it requires diligent pursuit.

PRAYING FOR IT, James tells Us to ask God for it if its Something we lack (James 1:5-6). However just asking for wisdom is not enough, We Must ask in Faith.

MEDITATION ON GOD’S WORD The bible is God’s mind his thoughts recorded for us on the pages of the bible, and when we read it and understand it. His thoughts become a part of us and affect how we live. That’s WHY We should began each day with the Lord and ask him to direct our steps for the day’s Journey.

ASSOCIATING WITH WISE FRIENDS We should never under estimate the influence of friends. They can either help us grow in Wisdom or cause us to suffer harm (Proverbs 13:20). That’s why we need to examine our friends closely to determine whether they’re helping us are harming Us.
