Seeking the Lord

Isaiah 55:6-9, Jeremiah 29:11-13

Question: What does it mean to Seek the Lord?

Why should unbelievers seek the Lord? They need a Savior because sin has separated them from him (Isaiah 59:2). The lost person, doesn’t have a relationship with the Lord. Salvation is the starting of a relationship with God through his Son.

God’s wrath is upon those who Suppress the truth. (Roman 1:18-19).

Why Should Christians Seek God? The Lord wants Us to know him intimately. Just knowing of him is not good enough. We need to understand how much he loves us and believe that we can trust him in every situation because he promised to work all things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

If we really love the Lord, we’ll pursue him. When you’re in love with someone, you want to spend time with that person and get to know her intimately. And so that it is with God he wants that same kind of Love.

What does it mean to seek the Lord?

In the midst of all your pursuits ambitions, where does God fit? Does he have top priority, or is he an after thought? An evaluation of Our time interest, thoughts conversations, spending habits and our personal agendas reveals what’s truly important to us. During a routine day, does the Lord come to mind, or do you only think of him in an emergency. God wants to meet with us but for many Christians they are so absorbed in their own activities and responsibilities that they do not have time for him.  Whenever we Seek him we’ll experience the Paradox of being content, yet we want more of him.

Listening to God

Mark 4:1-3, Psalm 32:8

As Isaiah 9:6 Says: … Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

It’s very comforting to know that God loves us enough to make a plan for each of our lives, and that Plan is Unique, it’s tailor made to fit each life. I believe most of us know by heart Proverbs 3:5-6, To acknowledge the Lord means we consider What He Says, recognize His great Power, trust His guidance and follow his instructions. He’s continually seeking to guide Us, but if we are Not LISTENING, we’ll miss His instructions.

How does God Speak to Us today? God’s primary way of speaking to us is through His Word. The bible is the authoritative Word of God it is for Our belief and practice it is the Only source of truth. When we read it we’re hearing directly from God, all other methods of LISTENING TO GOD must be checked and compared with the  word to determined if it is the Word of God.

He Speaks to Us through Prayer. Prayer is Our Way of communicating with God by talking to Him, but it’s also time to be still and listen for his guidance as he speaks to Our hearts.

The Lord may Speak through Our circumstances. When a situation is painful, we must remember that hearing from God is more important than Our comfort and ease.  He uses difficulties to grab Our attention in every event and Situation we sometimes find Ourselves. God has something to teach Us, instead of focusing on the situation, why not focus on what the Lord is teaching Us.

How Can I know it’s God Speaking? God’s voice is always consistent with his word. Any message must agree with what God has already said in His Word.
